Beyond Reality 2026 presents XR works that reflect the latest global trends in new media content.
This year's program showcases a diverse range of formats?including VR, AR, MR, dome content, and interactive media art?offering new forms of cinematic experiences where technology, sensory perception, space, and narrative converge. Audiences are invited to move beyond the role of passive viewers and actively engage with the content by navigating, interacting with, and responding to the works from within.
Under the theme ¡°Cosmic Cinema,¡± this year's program focuses on immersive narratives and sensory experiences connected to urban spaces. Through works that traverse outer space and physical space, memory and sensation, reality and virtuality, the program introduces new cinematic possibilities emerging from contemporary XR content.
In addition, the selection features a variety of formats?including interactive technologies, real-time responsive content, and location-based experiences?that explore participatory storytelling and expanded sensory engagement.
