Synopsis
Planets that once remained in their own worlds within isolated orbits arrive at the Kairos Nexus, a nonlinear point in cosmic time. Here, they begin to send signals to one another and gradually become aware of each other's presence. As two planets meet, each carrying distinct emotions and personalities, their unique elements begin to merge. As more planets connect to the Nexus, the signals grow increasingly complex, and each world starts to shift, transform, and expand. Audiences engage with this evolving cosmos by physically lifting the planets to explore their 3D forms and sounds in an immersive environment. When two planets are brought together, they combine to form a new world. Through this process, viewers are invited into a journey of transformation, coexistence, and the creation of new realities.
Creator's Statement
We live in an organically interconnected web of beings such as humans, machines, and cultures, constantly influencing and being influenced by one another. These relationships transcend the boundaries of online and offline, past and present, gradually shaping each individual's world and sense of self. This work metaphorically represents each unique existence as a "planet," exploring the nature of connection and relationality as these planets unexpectedly encounter and begin to sense each other within a cosmic time that flows differently from that of Earth. By visualizing the process in which distinct worlds intersect, merge, and expand, the piece invites the audience into a symbolic space where they can contemplate the unseen sensations of existence and connection.
I1hmn
I1hmn is a media art duo created by new media artist Tao Jane and sound artist So Sue-jeong. I1hmn's work explores sensation, technology, and relationality, also creates audio-visual, interactive art, and XR using sound, moving image, and physical response. I1hmn shares themes like coexistence, rootlessness, cycles, layers, and the fragile tensions within society. Through the layering of sound, image, and movement, I1hmn expands the world into a space that lies beyond physical reality. Recently, I1hmn created a 6DoF interactive VR work titled NERVREN, combining both AI-generated visuals and sound to reflect I1hmn’s unique artistic style.
