BIFAN x GIFF x SWISS FILMS
The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) and the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) are leading XR content platforms globally, with a longstanding partnership. This year at Beyond Reality, we will feature Bloom, selected for the GIFF Virtual Territories International Competition, Hors Cadre: Marionnettes Paul Klee from the Immersive section, and Perennials, an immersive selection from La Biennale di Venezia, recommended by the GIFF Executive Committee. Moving forward, the two festivals will continue to closely collaborate to present diverse and innovative works, providing new experiences for audiences around the globe. Furthermore, with the support and sponsorship of SWISS FILMS, the national agency responsible for promoting Swiss films globally, these works can be showcased. This cooperation is expected to significantly contribute to the growth and development of the global XR community.
XR Festival Asia x Sanrio Virtual Festival Project
The collaborative project between Sanrio and the Asian film festival alliance (KFF, BIFAN, SIF, BTFF) aims to widely expand the XR sector from Asia to the global stage. Selected creators from each Asian film festival will complete a project utilizing Sanrio characters and individual works over approximately one year. This year, BIFAN aims to announce the launch of this collaboration. Content will include performances, games, worlds, and more, such as on a metaverse platform, based on VRChat format, with online pitching and judging discussions during the festival period(on July 6 at Bucheon Art Bunker B39). Additionally, an exhibition space introducing Sanrio characters will be arranged. Your keen interest is much appreciated.
AI Short Film Screening
Step into a captivating realm where cutting-edge AI technology intertwines with storytelling brilliance at BIFAN+ XR Beyond Reality. This groundbreaking exhibition showcases a curated selection of works from Atlas V, a pioneer in XR art using VR, AR, and interactive media installations. Alongside these masterpieces, discover captivating pieces recommended by the AI storytelling research team Curious Refuge and exceptional entries from the BIFAN AI Short Film Competition.
AI Event Zone
BIFAN has shown relentless passion in exploring the film industry of the new era. This year, we aim to focus on the revolutionary impact of AI on the film industry. We will delve into how AI innovates the filmmaking process and transforms our viewing experiences. At this festival, through the AI Event Zone, various AI-based filmmaking tools will be introduced, providing attendees with the opportunity to experience them firsthand using laptops and computers. This platform can serve as a means to share our vision for the future of the film industry and to drive innovation through encounters with new technologies. Nuville Bucheon
After captivating Toronto, Canada, the 'Nuville' project is now landing in Bucheon. Sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts and a groundbreaking digital art collaboration between RAARAlab and Gii?ii immersive studio, uniting Toronto and Bucheon through the immersive Nuville experience at Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. 'Nuville Bucheon¡¯ is tailored to the unique features of Bucheon Art Bunker B39 and Bucheon Central Park. This special event, part of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival(BiFan+), invites participants to actively and directly engage in an immersive gameplay experience, rediscovering space, nature, and the city.
